Our Individual Outplacement Service Provision
These comprehensive services are most appropriate for those individuals who are facing major career change. We offer a range of levels of service
Hurst’s services usually start career transition programmes of support with an initial diagnostic meeting with the individual(s) concerned. This meeting serves two purposes: to introduce ourselves to the individual and outline the range of services we offer and to listen to the individual about their current situation. We seek their views on what topics they would wish to put emphasis on during the forthcoming weeks
Topics discussed are likely to be:
- Review of the current situation
- Conducting a personal stock take
- Coping with change
- Assessing skills and achievements
- Clarifying preferences for the future
- Identifying realistic future options
- Addressing training/development needs
- Preparing an up to date CV
- Responding to advertisements
- Designing a self marketing plan
- Developing a network of contacts
- Preparing for interview
- Interview practice and coaching
- Making presentations
- Self-employment as an option
- Working as a Consultant
- Pre-retirement considerations
- On-going mentoring and coaching
From these discussions emerges an agreed agenda for future work, a timescale for those activities and an initial outline of ‘things to do now’. Face-to-face meetings are spaced to provide timely and relevant advice as the ‘programme’ goes forward and the Consultant maintains both email and telephone contact in the interim. Continuity of Consultant is regarded as best practice. The duration of our contact with individuals is driven by their timeframe
The common elements of each programme delivered on a one-to-one basis are:
- Diagnostic/working first meeting
- Specific maximum number of hours for face-to-face meetings
- On-going email and telephone contact in the interim
- Self-Assessment homework
- Comprehensive reference manual
- Vacancy database Internet access
Option: as an additional element, we may suggest that a Psychovocational Assessment can be provided to assist those who are at career and/or life crossroads
